The Republic of Zimbabwe is a country located in the southern part of the continent of Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It is bordered by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the west, Zambia to the north and Mozambique to the east.

Zimbabwe, which former named Rhodesia, is the former name of the British colony of Southern Rhodesia in southern Africa, which was governed by a white minority until 1979. The colony gained legal independence from Britain in 1980 and became the Republic of Zimbabwe.
