wrote: When I first saw this stamp being offered on line six years ago, I took
it to be what it appeared to be--a view of a philatelic exhibition with lots of
unidentifiable stamps on display, and left it to a collector of much
material to add it to Rammy's site.
Some time
later, I noted it on line in the Linn's Monthly New Listings Update, and
something caught my eye, and I enlarged it. This time I looked at the
inscriptions below the exhibition photo and saw that the red zero in the
"100" was actually the center motif of Paraguay # 1! So the issue went into my SoS
database as a SoS Design Component category, and onto
my want list. It took me 'til sometime in 2018 to finally acquire one and
I knew I had a duplicate #1 on hand, so If I ever found a fdc,
I thought I would have a complete page in my collection. It took me
another long while to dig up the #1, and when matching them up, I looked at the
stamp again, and noticed the second zero in the "100" appeared to be
a globe in an emblem.
One
of my side works for several years, has been advising friends in the
Carto-Philatelic (Maps on Stamps) ATA group, of SoS issues with maps that were omitted on their database;
checking it, I saw they did not include the issue.
Magnifying
again, I saw that the emblem was that of the commemorated organization, and in
addition to the globe with four continents centered on the Atlantic ocean, there were two tiny stamps! On the uppermost stamp, I
could make out a "3" in each lower corner and thought it was a
Paraguay #3. To confirm, I went "surfing" on line for the Paraguay
organization, found an enlargement of the emblem, and saw it was indeed a #3;
I then identified the other stamps as Paraguay #297, now on my want list too.
If I had not wanted to help the map group, I may not have noticed the other SoS, so now, two topical
organizations know of another stamp to collect.
