Here are some of the Sos and two other stamps in the set have a Penny
Black (or a globe) imprinted in the margins. Attached are the best scans I've found, as I do not have examples in my collection.

Lou wrote: Altho the designer intended the stamps on
the sos to be U, S. #1-2, by the colors, they are not, but are “cut-outs” from
U. S. #948 (948a-b). I assume he used the more easily available s/s from
1947 instead of finding a source for the more expensive actual stamps; in 2000,
the designer of the Marshall Islands U.S. Presidents sheets did the same thing.
