Lou wrote: This celebrates the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the Hudson River and Lake Champlain in 1609, and the first demonstration of an operational steamboat in 1807; four  $2.50 (East Caribbean dollars) stamps, depict from left to right:  French explorer, Samuel de Champlain, steamboat builder, Robert Fulton, explorer-discoverer, Henry Hudson and U.S. Sc # 372. This stamp was issued exactly 100 years previously on September 25, 1909 to note the Hudson-Fulton Celebration.  It depicts recreations of Hudson's ship "Half Moon" and Fulton's steamboat "Clermont" on the Hudson River.  The design was created from separate photographs, and not an actual meeting of the ships. That Indian paddling a canoe in the bottom center probably wasn't there either!

Lou wrote" The designer erred a bit in choosing the stamps. Austria-Hungary declared war on Russia on August 6, 1914, but all the stamps reproduced were issued in 1915.  Singling out just this war declaration for commemoration is also strange, as by that date, Austria-Hungary had started WW 1 in late July by invading Serbia, and Germany had invaded Luxembourg, Belgium and France, bringing Gt Britain into the conflict.
