Wrote: Postal cards and envelopes with imprinted SoS indicia are a very collectible addition to a SoS collection. I have been very slowly adding them to our
sites for you to see, and now that my scanner is working again, I hope to show
you some unusual or uncommon items.
First
off, are three postal cards issued by Hong Kong Post
on February 22, 2002 to commemorate participation in Hong Kong Stampex 2002. The undenominated
cards were postage paid for international airmail, and sold in a
special folder prepared for the exhibition. It was expected
that showgoers would use them as souvenirs to mail
home. What was unusual, and so far unique, is that the three cards are attached to each other with rouletting inbetween for easy separation. Because of their
long length, I had to "separate" them in my scans.
The
SoS designs of the indicia
are smaller, revised versions of Hong Kong #s 653-654-655 from the Stamp
Collecting series of 1992; the values are removed and the inscription
panels are changed. I added these earlier stamps to my pages so
the differences could be seen.
The
face side of the cards are all different, very colorful, and show other
themed Hong Kong stamps. I use Vario pages in my
albums, and for cards such as these I use
clear pages to show both sides.
A
set of cards with first day cancels was also produced (I attached just one),
and both are offered occasionally from online Asian dealers-- prices range
from $7.00-$10.00.
I
hope these and those on the sites pique your interest to look for and add
postal stationery to your collection.
