Gabon stamps

Gabon is a former French colony in Western Africa, bordering the Atlantic Ocean at the Equator, between Republic of the Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

In 1888 Gabon becomes part of French Congo. At the formation of French Equatorial Africa in 1910, Gabon becomes a constituent part.

When French Equatorial Africa is dissolved in 1958 Gabon receives autonomy as the Gabonese Republic, followed in 1960 with independence.
