a google-search for
this name also brought no result. Because of the color blue, it could be the
MEDIO REAL from the first issue? But my MICHEL does
not mention their existence - only known from both of the UN REAL stamps of
1865
I
am curious, because THIS stamp alone would turn this
sheet into a so-called "Martin-SoS" (I
ignore the reproduction of foreign stamps). Has anyone any idea?

replied: I have Ecuador #2 bisect. Note my scan of the
catalog does not have the name you cannot find info on-- neither could I; .but
even if you pass on this one, there is a 1928 Ecuador airmail that meets your
date criteria.

Scott lists yellow as the color, but it was printed in many shades,
from lemon to orange,
and the most common is an orange yellow (like my stamp).
On the Ecuador 2005 issue, the stamp is definitely an orange
color.

Lou Wrote: Reproduced are 3 rare Ecuador covers: The first is
one of only 2 to 5 existing 1883 covers with the first revalued stamp of
Ecuador, needed due to shortage of 10c stamps in post offices. The second
is one of two 1895 covers with provisional revalue overprints needed due to
shortages caused by the siege of the city of Guaranda during a revolution.
Stamps with overprints reading upwards are listed in Michel, but this cover has
inverted overprints, reading downward. The last shows an 1896 imprinted
envelope with a pair of 2 c stamps and a bisected stamp representing a 1 c
value which was unavailable. Such bisects were accepted by the post
office due to shortages of low value stamps. Also on the cover are a pair of
another 1896 provisional revalue, changing 10c stamps to needed 5c values.
The years 1896-1896 are printed over the indicium (as validation?). The
registered cover was sent to Constantinople, in the Ottoman Empire(Turkey), and
was once in the famous Ferrari collection. Catalog #s are on the scans.
Very unusual subjects for the designs, but for me, the
reproductions are too small to really show them off. Still, this is one of the
better SoS issues of 2017.
