Lou
wrote: There are two S/S. The regular issue is Michel Block #91 which
is numbered, the S/S without a number is a listed variety, Michel Block 91
I. According to the Michel catalog, 24,000 Bl 91 sheets were issued and
only 2,000 Bl 91 I. Also, Bl 91 was issued in an uncut block of 4. I
have all three in my collection.

On the sheets, the
representation of the U. S. #1 is actually that of a hand painted essay,
see scan.

Lou wrote: On taking a
closer look, I saw the reproduced stamp is not #4656b. The value is 0.65 s, not
1.00 L and it is actually a portion of a 2013 imprinted postal card which has
been modified by removing all the address inscriptions and two address lines.
With a little search on
line, I was able to find and buy a card to display with my SOS, but sadly, not
with the inverted first day commemorative cancel!

Lou wrote: On December 2,
2023 Bulgaria issued two limited edition s/s to commemorate the 130th
Anniversary of Organized Philately in Bulgaria. According to new issue info,
there were 1800 perforated and 1800 imperf s/s
released, both have perforated (needle) numbering, 1-1800 for the ungummed imperf and
1801-3600 for the perfed, which is printed on a
special rubberized paper. The SoS are all in the
margins of the s/s surrounded by caricatures of what I assume are past
and/or present members of the Bulgarian Philatelic Federation.
I'm not a fan of cartoon
stamp designs and I wish that the very interesting group of SoS were reproduced larger, so that they can be seen
better. There are some very good looking engraved stamps from the Monarchy
period.
